K2S is a small engineering firm near Jamestown, North Dakota. It is a family owned business that specializes in Agricultural Waste Systems, Pipelines, Water Management, Roads, Shoreline and Stream bank Restorations, Soil and Water Conservation Practices, Environmental Assessments and Impacts, Wetland Delineations & Assessments.
Shane K. Kjellberg, P.E. President
Shane is a licensed professional engineer in Minnesota,
North Dakota and South Dakota and has been trained in wetland
delineations both the basic and advanced courses through
the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources. Shane has
over 20 years of experience and education in the agricultural
and environmental fields in Minnesota, North & South
Dakota and New York State. He has engineered and implemented
hundreds of practices: that collect and treat animal waste,
livestock water supply systems, stream bank and shoreline
restoration and stabilization, natural channel restoration
using “Rosgen” concepts, wetland restorations/creations
(dams & stream analysis), sediment control basins, odor
management plans, assisted with regulatory permitting, construction
management, operation and maintenance plans and other environmental
related work.
Shane has done several environmental assessments and impacts
on existing and proposed animal feeding operations, and
developed several sediment control plans for permitting
compliance.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering
from North Dakota State University
Shane also has the lifetime experience of growing up on
a family owned dairy farm in Midwestern Minnesota.
Jodi Kjellberg, Vice President
Engineering Technician/Environmental Specialist
Jodi possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology
and Environmental Studies through Augsburg and Macalester
Colleges in Minneapolis and St. Paul. She utilized her degree
to pursue environmental education activities as a Naturalist
at Wood Lake Nature Center- Richfield MN, Dodge Nature Center
- West St. Paul, and Yampatika - Steamboat Springs, CO.
She believes environmental stewardship starts with educating
our youth about the importance of preservation, and appreciation
for all that surrounds us. She has accomplished this to
some degree by developing programs that are still being
used at these facilities for environmental education among
pre-school to elementary school aged children. She left
Colorado 6 years ago to join her brother Shane
in Ypsilanti ND and become an engineering technician, environmental
specialist, and a certified wetland delineator with K2S
Engineering Inc.
Brian Markegard, P.E
Brian became a licensed professional engineer in December 2007 in North Dakota and has been working under the supervision of Shane since beginning employment with NDSU Extension service in 2002. He began
working for K2S Engineering June of 2004. He has worked
for the past five years engineering animal waste systems
in the state of North Dakota. Brian received his Bachelor
of Science in Agricultural Engineering from North Dakota
State University.
He grew up on a small grain and cattle farm in Southwestern
ND.
Tonia Kjellberg, Vice President/Secretary
Engineering Technician
Tonia is a graduate of State University of New York, Cobeskill
with a Bachelor degree in Technology and Agricultural Business.
She worked in New York State with the Soil and Water Conservation
District as an Engineering Technician for 2 years. Upon
moving to North Dakota she worked for the Barnes County
Soil Conservation District as a 319 Coordinator, working
with producers to promote conservation practices in the
district.
She grew up on a small farm in upstate New York.
